ARENA OF COLOR, project of interactive art installation, 2022

The importance of public art depends on the role it can play for the immediate urban environment by designing new content and opportunities in the social and cultural space of the city. This is the role I would like the implementation of „Arena of Color” to play. „Arena of Color” is a kind of large palette and, at the same time, a screen on which participants will explore the changing composition of color, which will be created intentionally, but also accidentally.

„Arena of color” is a realization with the use of colored aggregate where the individual colors of the composition are separated from each other and shaped in the form of oval circles, filled with colored aggregate of varying color and gradation from 0.2 mm to 3-5 mm, which from the central part of the composition of the object, spreading into the surrounding space, creating a kind of arena in the middle, where spectators and at the same time participants from a small distance and height, will be able to observe the activity of other people, participants in the project.„Arena of color” visualization. The clear marking of the central space of the site, exposing the activity of each participant, emphasizes the space of individual freedom for self-expression while making this activity completely public, which convinces of the egalitarianism of this type of project. On this central stage, a possible discrete composition formed from colored sand, as a result of the activity of the project participants, will gain organic intensity over time, despite being a collection of different, overlapping activities of viewers. It can become an inspiration for creating your own applications and structures from colored aggregate. It will be a kind of theater of color, where the viewer-participant becomes an important element by staying at the very center of it. Descending and ascending the steps with colored aggregate, reminiscent of a color palette, temporarily approaching and departing from the sphere of one’s activity, may be accompanied by a moment of reflection accompanying the play. The viewer will witness the entropic transformation of colors and shapes, an ever-transforming world that never again returns to its starting point. This is the effect of the blending of spots and colors of the color aggregate, which, however, will never reach the form of a burel stain. Side view.  „Arena of color” is a temporary art installation that is a combination of visual arts, sensual stimuli and elements of unique design. It is intended to stimulate the imagination of viewers-participants and can be a place of reflection and relaxation for the local community and certainly an attraction for tourists. Its characteristic and at the same time interactive element will be dozens of tons of colored aggregate of different gradations from 0.3 mm to 5 mm as the project is a fusion of spatial plastic composition and directly related tactile sensations. This composition contains some sculptural elements, dynamizing the form of the whole, which, combined with a rich color palette, should positively tune the viewer’s mind and make him reflect on the accompanying potential play with the colorful aggregate.„Arena of color” visualization. „ARENA OF COLOR” will be an expressive, unique art facility in the center of the city and will become an important point on the city’s attraction map during the summer.
Participants in the project, participating as barefoot as possible, will contribute to the blending of the colors of the sand especially at the junctions of the different colors, so that new shades of sand appear. The process of mixing colors makes the whole composition look more organic as if it were a creation of nature. In the evocation of the entropy process also lies the artistic value of the project. With the passage of time there will be an irreversible change in its appearance and the state of the changing color composition is, as it were, a record of the many activities of the project participants.”ARENA OF COLOR” is a strictly artistic project with possibly positive social impact in a given location, when the realization is sited in a strictly urban environment. As an artistic phenomenon, it will enrich the city with an object, strongly acting and stimulating the imagination, adding color and attractive to residents and tourists. „ARENA OF COLOR”, being a combination of colorful patches of sand and colorful sculptural elements made of plywood, will enable spectators-participants to play with form and color uninhibitedly. Thanks to its ludic character it will be a friendly place, accessible to all.The site of a central transfer from different districts of the city, can become more of a place of public activity for residents of the surrounding neighborhoods, including children, young people or tourists. „ARENA OF COLOR” is in line with the idea of „social sculpture”, which will integrate the local community. Sand, which evokes associations with the beach and vacations, playing in mixing colors, colorful sculptural elements can be an alternative summer recreation for residents, especially children. Thanks to its attractive, visual form, it will make it possible, activating the imagination – a virtual „vacation trip.”
